About the Game 5 questions
What is Neutronium: Parallel Wars?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars is a 4X space strategy board game for 2–4 players, featuring 47 unlockable mechanics, four asymmetric races, a built-in tutorial system called Recovered Memories, and a narrative campaign across 13 universe cycles. It is designed to be accessible to new players while providing deep strategic complexity for experienced ones.
How many players does Neutronium: Parallel Wars support?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars supports 2 to 4 players. The game is balanced differently at each player count — 2-player games are tighter and more direct, while 3-4 player games introduce more coalition dynamics and Paradox X strategy complexity.
How long does a game of Neutronium: Parallel Wars take?
A full 13-universe campaign typically takes 3–4 hours. Single-session games ending at a specific universe or triggered by a win condition can complete in 90 minutes to 2 hours. The Recovered Memories tutorial system for Universe 1 adds approximately 20 minutes to a first play.
What age is Neutronium: Parallel Wars for?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars is recommended for ages 14 and up. The Universe 1 experience is designed to be accessible to younger players with interest in strategy games, while the full 47-mechanic system targets adults and experienced gamers.
When is the Neutronium: Parallel Wars Kickstarter?
The Kickstarter launch date is to be announced. Join the waitlist to be notified the moment the campaign goes live. Waitlist members receive early access to the campaign page and are first in line for early bird pricing.
Learning to Play 5 questions
Do I need to read a rulebook before playing?
No. Neutronium: Parallel Wars is designed so that Universe 1 teaches the game while you play it through the Recovered Memories system. You begin with a small set of mechanics and unlock new ones as you progress through universe cycles. A rulebook is included for reference, but it is not required reading before your first session.
What is the Recovered Memories system?
Recovered Memories is Neutronium: Parallel Wars's built-in tutorial mechanic. It represents the heroes rediscovering knowledge their ancient race selves once possessed. In gameplay terms, it unlocks new mechanics progressively as players reach higher universe numbers — preventing new players from being overwhelmed while ensuring experienced players encounter the full 47-mechanic system by mid-game.
How complex is Universe 1?
Universe 1 uses approximately 8 core mechanics — movement, territory control, basic Nn collection, army deployment, base building, diplomatic capture (Terano only), basic combat, and the cycle reset. This is comparable in complexity to a standard worker-placement game. Players who are comfortable with games like Catan or Ticket to Ride will find Universe 1 accessible.
How long does it take to learn Neutronium: Parallel Wars?
Most players are making confident strategic decisions by their third game. Universe 1 through 3 represents the learning arc for most player types. The full 47-mechanic system becomes familiar over 5–7 sessions. Because mechanics unlock progressively, you are never learning everything at once — the game teaches itself across multiple plays.
What if players at the table have different experience levels?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars handles mixed-experience groups well. New players start at Universe 1 regardless of the other players' experience. Experienced players retain their understanding of unlocked mechanics, but the board resets equally for everyone. The game's design ensures new players are not simply crushed by experienced opponents in early universes.
Mechanics 6 questions
How many mechanics does Neutronium: Parallel Wars have?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars has 47 distinct mechanics that unlock progressively as players advance through universe cycles. Mechanics range from basic territory control in Universe 1 to Nn enrichment, wormhole travel, Mega-Structure construction, and Paradox X strategy in later universes. No single game session uses all 47 simultaneously.
What are Nuclear Ports?
Nuclear Ports are the game's primary Neutronium income structure — buildings that players construct on territory hexes to generate Nn income each cycle. They represent the game's economy layer. Unlike the Mega-Structure, Nuclear Ports reset with each Paradox X cycle, providing strong within-cycle income but no long-term carry-forward progress.
What is Paradox X?
Paradox X is a cycle-ending event triggered when all three Paradox X artifact cards (out of 44 total) are collected and placed on the Paradox X board. When the cycle ends, the board resets — but Enriched Neutronium carries forward. Players can use Paradox X offensively to escape a losing cycle, or work to prevent opponents from triggering it prematurely. Read the full Paradox X lore.
What is Alpha Core?
Alpha Core is the 19th hex tile — a special location at the galaxy's center predating all four known races. It is shuffled face-down among regular hexes at game setup. It contains the game's only wormhole, enables Nn enrichment from Universe 5 onwards, and awards bonus Nn to the first player to visit it each cycle. Read the full Alpha Core lore.
What races are available in Neutronium: Parallel Wars?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars features four asymmetric races: Terano (diplomacy, Pink territories), Mi-TO (engineering and combat, Blue territories), Asters (probability and flux, Yellow territories), and Kraelos (resource extraction and military, Red territories). Each race has a unique legacy bonus that unlocks when a Hero controls three of their corresponding territory type.
What is the Mega-Structure?
The Mega-Structure is Neutronium: Parallel Wars's ultimate win condition — a cross-universe construction project requiring contributions across universes 11, 12, and 13. It requires all four race legacy bonuses and significant Neutronium investment. Its foundations persist across Paradox X resets. Completing it in Universe 13 is a primary victory condition. Read the full Mega-Structure lore.
Components 4 questions
What components come in the box?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars includes 19 hex tiles (18 territory hexes plus Alpha Core), 44 cards, Nn tokens in multiple denominations, army tokens for all four races, building tokens, the Paradox X board card (150×70mm), Hero figures, a main game board, and a reference guide. Component counts are subject to change based on Kickstarter stretch goals.
How many hex tiles does Neutronium: Parallel Wars have?
Neutronium: Parallel Wars has 19 hex tiles in total — 18 standard territory hexes divided among the four race types, plus the special Alpha Core hex. All 19 tiles are placed during setup; Alpha Core is shuffled face-down so its position is unknown at game start.
How many cards does Neutronium: Parallel Wars have?
The game includes 44 cards in the main deck, including 3 Paradox X artifact cards. The remaining 41 cards include territory bonuses, special actions, legacy activators, and event cards. The deck is shuffled at the start of each universe cycle.
What are Nn tokens?
Nn tokens represent Neutronium — the game's primary resource and currency. They come in standard denominations for regular income and special Enriched Nn tokens that persist across Paradox X cycle resets. Nn is spent on army deployment, building construction, diplomatic captures, Paradox X slot payments, and Mega-Structure construction phases.

Lore Deep Dives
Several FAQ answers above link to dedicated lore pages. These are worth reading if you want to understand the game's narrative before you play — not as a requirement, but because the mechanics make more intuitive sense when you understand the fiction behind them. Why does Enriched Nn persist across Paradox X? Because the ancient races engineered it that way. Why does Alpha Core give a first-arrival bonus? Because the neutral station accumulates surplus between visits. The fiction and the mechanics are designed to reinforce each other.
The Alpha Core, Paradox X, and Mega-Structure pages each run over 800 words and cover both lore and mechanical detail. The race lore pages — Terano and others — cover race history, biology, social structure, and how each race's legacy bonus connects to their ancient capabilities. Reading one or two before your first session is enough to give the game's universe a foundation that makes the mechanics feel meaningful from turn one.
