Neutronium: Parallel Wars Support: Rules Questions, Component Issues, and FAQ
Whether you have a rules dispute, a damaged component, or a question that the rulebook did not clearly answer — this page covers the most common support needs. For anything not addressed here, the fastest route is via Discord, where the design team and an active community respond to questions daily.
Quick Rules Reference
These are the questions that come up most often during games and in post-session discussions. They are answered here in plain language without rulebook page references — for the full rules context, see the rulebook PDF.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can I attack and build in the same turn? | Yes. Attack and build are separate action types. You may take both in the same turn as long as you have the action points to spend on each. They can be taken in any order. |
| When does tribute apply? | Tribute is assessed every round during the Tribute Phase — not just when combat occurs. If you have adjacent enemies at the start of the Tribute Phase, tribute applies. Adjacency is checked at that moment, not at the start of the round. |
| Can you attack through a wormhole? | No. Wormholes enable movement only. An army moving through a wormhole exits at the destination territory and can attack from there in a subsequent action, but the wormhole itself is not a valid attack vector. |
| Does Alpha Core enrichment cost Neutronium from your reserve or from production? | From your reserve. Enrichment at Alpha Core draws from the Neutronium you have already collected and stored, not from a production card played that turn. Production and enrichment are separate economic actions. |
| Can a colony upgrade happen the same round it is built? | No. A colony must exist at the start of a round to be eligible for upgrade in that round. A colony built during the Action Phase cannot be upgraded until the following round at the earliest. |
| What is the army stack limit per territory? | Three army units per territory for all races except Mi-TO, who may stack up to four. This limit applies to friendly armies only; combat resolution reduces stacks before the limit is re-evaluated post-combat. |
If your rules question is not covered above, check the mechanics guides or post in the #rules-questions channel on Discord for a quick answer from the community or design team.
Component Issues
Missing or damaged components are covered under Neutronium: Parallel Wars's replacement policy. The process is straightforward and is designed to be as low-friction as possible for Kickstarter backers.
To request a replacement, contact the team via Discord using the #component-support channel, or send an email to the address listed in your backer confirmation. Include your Kickstarter backer number, the name of the component as listed in the component manifest (included in the game box), and a brief description of the issue — missing, damaged in transit, or manufacturing defect.
Kickstarter backers receive lifetime component replacement coverage with one claim per component type. This means you can claim a replacement for a damaged hero miniature once; if the same miniature is damaged again after the first replacement, additional coverage is assessed case by case. The lifetime coverage applies to the original backer and is non-transferable. All replacements are processed and shipped in batches following post-Kickstarter fulfillment completion — individual one-off shipments are not available.
Rulebook Download
The current version of the Neutronium: Parallel Wars rulebook is available as a PDF download at /rules. The rulebook is updated when the design team issues formal rules clarifications or errata. The version number on the cover page tells you which edition you are reading; if your physical rulebook and the PDF differ, the PDF takes precedence as it reflects the most current official ruling.
Also available on the rules page: a quick-start guide designed to get a table playing in under 30 minutes without reading the full rulebook first, and a set of printable reference cards covering the action sequence, end-of-round procedure, tribute calculation, and the Paradox X trigger conditions. The reference cards are formatted for A5 printing and lamination.
If you find an error or ambiguity in the rulebook that is not addressed by the existing errata, report it in the #rules-feedback channel on Discord so it can be reviewed for the next update.
Contact Options
There are three primary ways to reach the Neutronium: Parallel Wars team and community, each suited to different types of questions.
Discord — Fastest Response
The official Discord server is the best place for rules questions, playtesting interest, quick answers, and community discussion. The design team checks Discord daily. Rules questions typically receive a response within a few hours during active periods. Join via the link on the homepage.
Email — For Formal Requests
Email is preferred for component replacement claims, press inquiries, retailer interest, and any request that benefits from a written record. Expected response time is 3 to 5 business days. The email address is listed in your backer confirmation and on the contact page.
Reddit — Community Discussion
The r/NeutroniumExpansion subreddit is an active community space for strategy discussion, rules debates, session reports, and general game talk. The design team participates in Reddit discussions but does not provide formal support via Reddit. For support requests, use Discord or email.
Common Misconceptions
These are the five rules that experienced players — including players with dozens of sessions — most often get wrong. They are listed here because correcting them tends to change games significantly.
- Tribute direction is reversed by most new players. Tribute flows from the player with fewer adjacent military units to the player with more. It is not attacker-to-defender or defender-to-attacker. If you have three armies adjacent to an opponent's one army, your opponent pays you tribute — not the other way around.
- Paradox X triggers at end of round, not immediately. When the third Paradox X artifact is collected, the trigger condition is met — but Paradox X does not resolve until the end of that round. All remaining player actions in the round proceed normally. Players who understand this timing can make meaningful decisions in the window between collection and resolution.
- Alpha Core enrichment cost is paid from reserve, not production. You cannot play a production card and immediately redirect the output into enrichment. Enrichment costs Neutronium from your existing reserve. Plan your enrichment turns accordingly — they require pre-positioning of resources.
- Army stack limits apply before combat, not after. A stack of three armies (or four for Mi-TO) is the maximum present in a territory at any point during the Action Phase. You cannot temporarily stack more armies than the limit by planning to reduce them via combat in the same action sequence.
- Colony upgrades require a full round of existence. A colony built during the Action Phase is not eligible for upgrade until the following round. Many players attempt to build and upgrade a colony in a single round's action sequence, which is not a legal play. The colony must be present at the start of the round in which it is upgraded.
If you have a question that does not fit any of the categories above — unusual board state, edge case interaction, or a rules conflict the existing materials do not resolve — post it in #rules-questions on Discord with as much detail as possible about the board state. Include which universe you are in and which races are involved. The more context you provide, the faster a useful answer comes back.
